Join us for our first-ever tournament at Wakefield Middle School! It's a perfect chance to try competitive chess and help us grow more events like this in the future.
LOCATION:
Wakefield Middle School, 101 W. 44th Street, Tucson, AZ 85713.
DESCRIPTION:
4-round Swiss tournament in 3 rated sections: Open, K – 8th Grade, K – 3rd Grade
and 2 not-rated sections: Not-Rated 4th – 8th Grade, Not-Rated K – 3rd Grade.
Ratings based on February Supplement. Tournament is open to all ages and skill levels.
The Open, K – 8th Grade, and K – 3rd Grade sections will be US Chess Federation rated.

The Not-Rated 4th – 8th Grade, Not-Rated K – 3rd Grade are not US Chess Federation rated.
EQUIPMENT:
Players are responsible for boards/set, scoresheets, pencils/pens, bringing/setting their own clocks.
TIME CONTROL: Time control: G/30;d5.
REGISTRATION:
For the Open, K – 8th Grade, K – 3rd Grade sections US Chess Federation membership is required. Annual membership is available on uschess.org. If you have not joined US Chess or renewed your membership by February 20, please renew onsite through SACA before the 1st round. Players that cannot show proof of paid membership before the 1st round will not be paired.

Online registration closes Friday, 2/20 at 7 pm.
Onsite registration: Saturday, 8:30 am – 9:00 am. Registrations after 9:00 am may receive a ½ point bye for round 1 and be paired for round 2.
There will be a $5 processing fee for any refunds (must be requested before 8 pm Friday, 2/20).
ENTRY FEES:
$20 if received by Thursday, 2/12. $25 if after Thursday, 2/12 or $30 at the site.
SCHEDULE:
9:30 am, 10:45 am, 12:30 pm, 1:45 pm.
Please arrive by 9:15 am for pairings and announcements. There is no tournament check-in.
Byes: ½ point byes are available for all rounds if requested prior to start of round two.
PRIZES:
Open: 1st, $75; 2nd, $60; 3rd, $40
Other Sections: 1st, Trophy; 2nd, Large Medal; 3rd, Small Medal; 4th, Ribbon
Additional prizes may be awarded based on entries. Prizes are 100% guaranteed.
