The Louisiana Chess Association invites you to the Paul Morphy Open! This year's tournament will be hosted at Oschner/Brent House in New Orleans, LA and will offer 5 rounds of classical chess over two or three days. Players may compete in one of three available divisions. USCF and LCA membership required (for LA players), all ages are welcome! 

Tournament details: Five rounds, three sections, Swiss system, G/90;+30, USCF and FIDE (Open section) classical-rated tournament with 2- or 3-day schedule options. 2-day schedule players will play G/50;d10 in Round 1 before merging for Round 2. 

Prize fund: $3350 prize fund b/60 with 50% guaranteed.

3 Day Schedule: Friday at 6:30pm, Saturday at 1:30pm and 6:30pm, Sunday at 10:00am and 3:00pm 

2 Day Schedule: Saturday at 10:30am, merge for Round 2 at 1:30pm, see remaining schedule above.

Chess Rate: $109 per night at the Brent House for Friday and Saturday nights.

Entry fee: $90 entry fee if purchased by 6/5/25. $100 if purchased by 6/19/25, $120 on 6/20/25 or 6/21/25 for 2-day schedule. On-site registration will end 30 minutes before the first round.

Eligibility: Current USCF membership required. LCA membership required for Louisiana players and can be purchased or renewed on-site if necessary. LCA dues are $15 for adults, $10 - seniors over 65, $5 for juniors under 18 and $25 for family members (1 or 2 adults plus minor children) in one household; Louisiana residents not joining the LCA for 2024-25 may pay a $5 single-event fee. 

Byes: Two half-point byes available upon request. No requests may be made after the start of round three, other than for emergency situations.
