The New Year's Encore Blitz caps off a full weekend chess festival at Tempe Mission Palms Resort! Following the 2027 Arizona State Grades Championship and the New Year's Encore Swiss, and held alongside the 2027 Pan-American Intercollegiate Team Championship, the New Year's Encore Swiss brings players of all ages together for one last event to close out the weekend.
DESCRIPTION:
5 double rounds (10 total games) in 2 sections: Open and U1400.
$500 prize fund based on 30 entries.
Everyone is welcome. The event is open to players of all ages and skill levels.
EQUIPMENT:
Players are responsible for bringing/setting their own clocks.
TIME CONTROL:
Time control: G/3; inc. 2.
REGISTRATION:
US Chess membership is required for all sections. Annual membership is available on uschess.org. Renew onsite through SACA before round one if needed. Players without proof of paid membership before round one will not be paired.

Onsite registration: Saturday, 5:00–6:00pm.
ENTRY FEES:
$15 if received by December 2. $20 between December 3-19. $25 after December 19.
Registration closes on January 1, 2027 at 6 pm Arizona time.
Onsite registration is $35 on January 2 from 5:00-6:00pm.
Free entry for FIDE titled players.
SCHEDULE:
Onsite registration: 5:00-6:00pm.
Round 1: 6:30pm.
PRIZES:
$500 prize fund based on 30 entries.
