Doolen Blitz Championship

LOCATION:            

Doolen Middle School. 2400 N. Country Club Rd, Tucson, AZ 85716.

 

DESCRIPTION:        

US Chess rated 5 double round Swiss tournament in 4 sections.

Sections: Open, U1600, K12, K6.

Sections may be combined based on number of entries.

Players may play up. Blitz rating used for pairing and prizes. If unrated, regular rating will be used.

 

EQUIPMENT:           

Players are responsible for boards/sets and bringing/setting their own clocks.

 

TIME CONTROL:   

Time control: G/5; d0. (Players are responsible for bringing and setting their clock.)

 

REGISTRATION:   

US Chess membership is required for all sections. Annual membership is available on uschess.org. If you have not joined US Chess or renewed your membership by April 14, please renew onsite through SACA before the 1st round. Players that cannot show proof of paid membership before the 1st round will not be paired.

Online registration closes Friday, April 14 at noon MST.

Onsite registration: Friday, April 14: 5pm – 6pm.

Registrations after 6 pm may receive a ½ point bye for round 1 and be paired for round 2.

There will be a $5 processing fee for any refunds.

 

ENTRY FEES:            

$15 if received by March 28. 

$20 if received between March 29 and April 14 (noon).

$25 onsite (Friday onsite entries after 6pm may receive a 1/2-point bye for 1st round).

 

SCHEDULE:             

First round at 6:30. Subsequent rounds begin immediately upon completion of previous round.

Please arrive by 6:15 pm for pairings and announcements. There is no tournament check-in.

Byes: ½ point byes are available for all rounds if requested prior to start of round one.

An awards ceremony will take place after the last round is completed.

 

AWARDS:                    

1st – 3rd place trophies in each section.

             

SNACK BAR:            

The Doolen Chess Club will have a snack bar open during the event. Your support is greatly       

appreciated and will help to sustain the club's ongoing activities.
