The Louisiana Chess Association invites you to the 2026 Paul Morphy Scholastic! This year's tournament will be hosted at Ochsner/Brent House in New Orleans, LA and will offer 4 rounds of Quick chess. USCF and LCA membership required (for LA players).

Note: This tournament is a side event to the 2026 Paul Morphy Open and Scholastic Players will have time to play in both events if so desired.

Date: June 20, 2026

Format: Four round swiss format, G/25;d5 tournament. Three sections: K-3; K-6; K-12

Venue: Ochsner/Brent House 1512 Jefferson Highway, New Orleans, LA, 70121, US

Prizes: Individual medals for all players in each section, trophies for 1-3rd place in each section.

Registration: 8:00AM-8:30AM. Anyone not registered by 8:30AM will be given a first round bye.

Round times: 9:00 am, 10:15 am, 11:30pm, 12:45pm

Byes: Two half-point byes available upon request. All byes must be requested before round 3, with exceptions made for emergency situations. All bye requests final after beginning of round 1.

Entry fee: $30 if received by 6/6/26, $35 after 6/4/26, and $40 on-site.

USCF requirement: Current USCF membership required, join here. If your membership does not have an expiration date, it is not yet current.

LCA requirement: Current LCA membership required; $5 for scholastic players under 18, $25 for family membership package (1 or 2 adults + any children living in same household). Membership included in 2026 Paul Morphy Scholastic entry fee.
