Des Moines Area Chess January Scholastic Tournament

When:  Sunday 1/7/2024, 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm

US Chess Member ID is Required:  If you are new to chess tournaments and do not have a US Chess ID you may either:

• Purchase or renew a US Chess Membership online at Join US Chess(exit to www.uschess.org)
• Enter your expired US Chess ID or enter "9999999" (eight 9s) and purchase an $11 annual membership at the tournament.

Where:  The MidAmerican Energy Company RecPlex, 6500 Grand Ave, West Des Moines, IA 50266.  Park in the main parking lot and proceed into the main (north) doors by the flagpole. The tournament will take place in the Overlook room on the second floor.

Format: Students will play games individual games in a Swiss tournament format.  Each player will have 15 minutes to make all their moves (G/15; d5).

Rounds:  (4 Rounds): Round 1:  1:30 pm, Rounds 2 through 4: ASAP.

Prizes:  An awards ceremony will take place ASAP after the completion of the final round. Trophies will be awarded for 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd overall and first U800, U600, U400, U200, and unrated.  All players competing in their first tournament will receive a medal.

Entry Fee: $20 before January 6, 11:59 pm, $25 thereafter.

Registration: Online Registration closes Saturday, 11:59 pm. On-Site Registration, Sunday, 1:00 pm to 1:20 pm.
