A VCF Cup Event -- VCF membership is required for Virginia players.  Join or renew at www.vachess.org.

Games will also be played at the adjacent Mid-Atlantic Chess Center (walk across the parking lot), located at 291 Independence Blvd, Suite 515, Building 4 in the Pembroke office park

Format: Open and U1600 5 Rounds, Swiss System. U1000 4 or 5 rounds based on entries.  All games are US Chess-rated.  One half-point bye if requested prior to the start of Round 3

Sections: Open, Under 1600, and U1000.  No unrated players in the Open Section. 

Ratings for Sectioning and Prizes: We will use the higher of your Over-the-Board or Online regular ratings from the December 2021 US Chess Rating Supplement.

Entry Fees: Open and U1600:  $70 through Sat 12/4; $85 beginning Sun 12/5 and onsite; U1000:  $20 through Sat 12/4; $25 beginning Sun 12/5 and onsite

Prizes
-- Prizes based on 60 entries in the Main Event (Open and U1600)

-- Open Section (1st-3rd): $800, $500, $300; Top U1800 $100
-- Under 1600 Section (1st-3rd): $700, $400, $200; Top U1200 $100, Top Unrated $100; Unrated winning a place prize limited to $250.

-- U1000:  Trophies to top 5 overall, Top U800, and Top U600, Medals to other participants with even or plus scores

Schedule and Time Controls:
Open and U1600

-- Sat Dec 11: Round 1 at 10AM (G/75 + 10), Rounds 2 and 3 at 2PM and 6:30PM (G/90 + 10)
-- Sun Dec 12: Rounds 4 and 5 at 10AM and 3PM (G/90 + 10)

U1000 (G/40; d5)

-- Sat Dec 11 ONLY: Rounds at 10, 12, 2, 4, (and 6 PM if 5 rounds)

COVID protocols:  Masks are required at the board / in the playing hall and Skittles at all times.  Supplies available to sanitize equipment.
