2-day sections
Byes: Half-point byes are available for players who can't make any rounds. Max 2 half-point byes, and must be requested by the start of the tournament. Any byes requested after the start of Round 1 will be a zero point bye.
Fair Play -- Zoom monitoring requirements:
Organizers will take fair play measures and screening very seriously.
Players, parents and coaches will be given detailed and careful explanation on the fair play measures, importance of fair play and consequences on not following fair play guidelines.
During tournament selected TDs will act as instant game review personnel, and post tournament all games will be sent for full analysis by Dr. Ken Regan, a recognized expert at University of Buffalo.
Results and awards will only be finalized after the fair play analysis has been completed.
Any players who found to violate fair play will be reported to US Chess Ethics committee, and their tournament result will be adjusted based on US Chess rules.
All players must be on zoom with at least one camera.
Score adjustment:
Organizers reserve the right to remove from the tournament any player whose play is indicative of fair-play violations.
When a player is removed, scores will be adjusted as follows:
If two or more rounds remain, all opponents of the disqualified player will receive a win by forfeit, unless they defeated the disqualified player, in which case they will retain a rated win.
If the tournament has concluded, or if there is only one round remaining:
The last opponent of the disqualified player will receive a win by forfeit.
Other opponents who lost to the disqualified player will receive a half-point bye.
Other opponents who drew with the disqualified player will receive a win by forfeit.
Anyone who defeated the disqualified player will retain a rated win, instead of a forfeit win.
All players in the Championship sections must be SoCal state affiliate members.
