Active US Chess Membership is Required for Gold, Silver, and Bronze sections. All US Chess Rules will be followed. Notation is required in all sections. Players 8 years old or younger (or their parents) can ask the tournament director before Round 1 for an exemption, if they are still learning to write in general.
Players and spectators younger than in high school must be accompanied by an adult. The accompanying adult must be present at the tournament site. Disruptive and/or destructive behavior will result in dismissal from the tournament and site. Players are responsible for the behavior of anyone accompanying them to the tournament. Players/spectators asked to leave Red Raccoon Games by store employees will be removed from the tournament.
Boards and pieces available for use, players are responsible for bringing clocks.
32 players maximum. Due to the player limit, please let the tournament director know ASAP if you pre-registered but end up not being able to participate (syechessclub@gmail.com).
3 Rounds SS; G30+5. Accelerated pairings may be used at tournament director discretion.

*USCF Quick, Blitz, or any FIDE/foreign ratings may be used for section eligibility purposes for players without a regular rating. Unrated players may play in either the Silver or Bronze section.
Entry fees are paid onsite upon check-in; cash only. Local players may pre-pay with David at chess club meetings Monday nights at Portillo’s.
General Entry Fee for all sections: $25
Players with a US Chess Regular Rating 1800 or higher (using published or most recent live rating): $15
Players with a US Chess Regular Rating 2200 or higher (using published or most recent live rating): Free
If a live rating is used for a discounted entry fee, that rating will be used for section eligibility and pairing purposes.
Based on 24 paid entries.
Gold: 1st - $100, 2nd - $50; Silver: 1st - $80, 2nd- $40; Bronze: 1st - $60, 2nd - $30
Check-in: 12:15pm-12:45pm
Round 1: 1:00pm
Rounds 2 & 3 will start ASAP, generally 5 minutes after the conclusion of the previous round in the section.
Estimated End: 4:30pm
Players arriving after check-in will receive one half-point bye and will be paired in subsequent rounds. Half-point byes are only available for Round 1.

Players should head downstairs upon arrival to Red Raccoon games. After walking downstairs, the playing hall will be through the doors on the left. There is also an elevator towards the back of the store, near the restrooms.
In addition to board games and gaming accessories, Red Raccoon Games sells snacks and beverages. Players and spectators are encouraged to support the store!
In addition to US Chess rules and tournament policies, players and spectators must follow the store's Code of Conduct.
