Meadows Tournament Series:
8601 Scholar Ln.
Las Vegas, NV 89128
The Meadows School is thrilled to announce season two of our chess tournament series: The Pursuit of Excellence Continues in conjunction with our chess coordinator, Ryan Phillips Chess LLC (ryanphillipschess.com). The series will operate the same as last year with an added feature of a team competition between schools this year. Please read on for details:
The Meadows Tournament Series is a series of six chess tournaments over the course of the 2026-27 school year! A player's top three scores will be used to determine the grand prize winners in each section. There will be prizes awarded to the winners of each section at the conclusion of the tournament series. Players can choose to play in the entire series for a discounted price (almost 50% off) or register for individual tournaments:
Team Awards:
This year we are very excited to add a team component to the tournament series. Schools can enter as many teams as they'd like between 3-5 players. Only a team's top three scores will count for the team prizes. All teams should consist of players from the same school playing in the same section. For example, a team with some players competing in the K-5 rated section and K-7 unrated section would not be eligible for team prizes. A school can submit more than one team though. For example, if you have three to five students who would like to play K-5 rated section, that would be one team and if you have three to five students who would like to play Unrated K-7 section, that could be a second team. Schools can submit multiple teams per section as well.
We will have 1st place awards in each section if we have up to 3 teams competing, 2nd place awards if 4-6 teams compete in that section and 3rd place awards for any section with more than 6 teams participating.
Players from the same school competing in the team section will not be paired against each other until round 3.
Signing up as a 5-player team offers the cheapest pricing option.
Tournament dates:
September 26th, 2026-The Meadows Invitational
November 7th, 2026-TMS November Excellence
December 12th, 2026-Chess Winter Classic

You do not have to play in all six tournaments to register for the bundle, but the more tournaments you play in, the greater the savings!
All players who signup for the bundle will receive a complementary tournament series t-shirt. You do not have to play all events to choose this option, but the more events you play, the greater the savings.
The format for all tournaments will be a four-round Swiss tournament with time control G/30;d5. This tournament is open to all scholastic players with a USCF membership, as well as an unrated section available to any player looking to get into tournament chess (no USCF membership required for this section). The two-rated sections are divided K-5th grade and 6th-12th grade. We also have an unrated section for those interested in participating in tournament chess, that section will be K-7th grade. A player purchasing the bundle is eligible to change from the unrated section to either the K-5th rated or 6th-12th grade rated sections, but only tournaments within a section will count towards grand prize total scores.
