Celebrate National Chess Day with a full day of chess at the Growth Chess Center! Join us for morning Scholastic Quads, a free lunchtime pizza party, and an afternoon Open Rapid.
Players can register for either tournament individually or play both and save $5!
8:00 AM — Doors Open
9:00 AM–12:00 PM — Scholastic Quads
Three US Chess-rated games at G/25 d5.
12:00–1:00 PM — Free National Chess Day Pizza Party
Pizza, casual chess, and time to celebrate National Chess Day with the Growth Chess community! Tournament participants and their families are welcome.
1:00 PM–Approximately 4:15 PM — Open Rapid
Four US Chess Quick-rated games at G/15+5.
3 Games • G/25 d5 • US Chess Rated
Players will be divided into four-player quads based primarily on US Chess rating/playing strength. Each player will play everyone else in their quad once.
Round 1 — 9:00 AM
Round 2 — 10:00 AM
Round 3 — 11:00 AM
Awards: Trophy to the winner of each quad.
Players should check in by 8:50 AM.
If the number of entries does not divide evenly into four-player quads, the lowest group may be combined into a small Swiss section as necessary.

Open to scholastic and adult players of all ratings.
Round 1 — 1:00 PM
Rounds 2–4 will begin as soon as possible following completion of the previous round.
Expected finish: Approximately 4:15 PM
1st — $100
2nd — $60
3rd — $40
U1600 — $25
U1200 — $25
Prize fund is based on 20 entries in the Open Rapid and will be adjusted based on actual turnout.

All tournament participants and their families are invited to join us for a free pizza party from 12:00–1:00 PM!
Registered players will receive a brief RSVP during tournament week so we can get an accurate food count.
Players participating only in the Scholastic Quads are welcome to stay for the pizza party, and Rapid-only players are welcome to arrive early and join us before Round 1.
US Chess membership is required for both rated tournaments.
Advance registration is strongly encouraged. The October 8 early-registration deadline helps us prepare the correct number of scholastic trophies and plan food for the pizza party.

Less than 24 hours before Round 1:
50% refund or one-time transfer to a comparable tournament within 3 months.
After Round 1 begins:
Entry fees are non-refundable and cannot be transferred.
