The Louisiana Chess Association invites you to its annual TOC Qualifier! This year's tournament will be hosted at the Baton Rouge Bridge Center in Baton Rouge, LA. Tournament chess will be offered with 5 different sections available for players to compete in for their respective TOC division. The results of this tournament will decide Louisiana's representative for the Rockefeller, Barber, Denker, Ashley, and Irwin Tournament of Champions August 3-6, 2026 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Eligibility: (Louisiana Residents ONLY)

Ashley - Scholastic players grades K-3
Rockefeller - Scholastic players grades K-5
Barber - Scholastic players grades 6-8 
Denker - Scholastic players grades 9-12
Irwin - Senior players ages 50 or older

Schedule and Time Control:

Ashley, Rockefeller, Barber = 4 rounds, G45;d5. Round times at 9:00 am, 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 3:00 pm.
Denker, Irwin = 4 rounds G/60;+10. Round times at 9:00 am, 11:30 pm, 3:00 pm, and 5:30 pm.

Entry Fee (Includes LCA Membership, see below for discounts for current LCA members):

Ashley, Rockefeller, Barber, Denker: $35 online until 2/23, $40 until 2/26, and $50 walk-in
Irwin: $45 online until 2/23, $50 until 2/26, and $60 walk-in

On-site registration time is 8:30-9:00am on Saturday February 28th, 2026.

Rules: 

The default pairing system for each division will be swiss system pairings. Format and pairing system may be adjusted to round robin in any section in which 5 or fewer players are entered. In the event of a tied score in any division, a G/3;+2 Blitz tiebreak may be used.

One half point bye available for any round if requested before round 2 begins.

Prize: 

The net proceeds of this tournament will be added to stipends provided by the LCA to help with travel costs to the players that are the representatives at the TOC in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
