5 Round Swiss, G/120, d5.

3 day and 2 day schedules. Round 1 of the 2 day schedule is G/60, d5.  All other rounds are G/120, d5.

3 SECTIONS:

1.Championship - 1800 and up

2.Challengers - 1799-1300

3.Moving Up - U1300

First Place Prize in each of the 3 sections is Guaranteed. Remaining prize fund based on 50 total paid entries in both sections combined.

Grand Masters may enter FREE, entry fee will be deducted from any winnings. 

Only one 1/2 point bye available and it must be declared before the beginning of round 2!

Early Entry Fee $86 through July 3rd, $99 thereafter.  No Refunds after July 6th. Players may "play up" one section for an additional $25.  CLUB MEMBERS REMEMBER TO USE YOUR DISCOUNT COUPONS!

Championship Section (1800 and up) $900 Prize Fund - For players rated 1800 and up, and unrateds.  Those rated U1800 but at least 1300 may "play up" in this section by paying the additional $25 "play up" fee.  1st Place pays $600 guaranteed. 2nd pays $300, based on 50 total paid entries in all 3 sections combined.

Challengers Section (1799-1300) $700 Prize Fund - open to all rated 1300-1799, and unrateds. Those rated U1300 may "play up "in this section by paying the additional $25 "play up" fee. 1st pays $450 guaranteed. 2nd pays $250, based on 50 total paid entries in all 3 sections combined.

Moving Up Section (U1300) $400 Prize Fund - open to all rated U1300, and unrateds. 1st pays $250 guaranteed. 2nd pays $150, based on 50 total paid entries in all 3 sections combined.

UNRATEDS MAY PLAY IN ANY SECTION BUT MAY NOT WIN MORE THAN $150 EXCEPT IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP SECTION WHERE THEY ARE ELIGIBLE FOR ALL PRIZES.

It is possible that the tournament may be consolidated into just two sections if there happens to be very few entries in a particular section.

3 Day Schedule: Rounds at 6:00pm Friday; 1pm and 6pm Saturday; 9:30am and 3pm Sunday. 

2 Day Schedule: Round 1 at 9:30am Saturday at G/60, d5.  Then merges with the 3 day schedule.

There are only 50 seats available. The Spring Championship sold out a week early so register soon or risk missing out.

Location: THE HOUSTON CHESS STUDIO, 250 Patton St., Suite H, Houston TX 77009.  Centrally located and easy to get to.  Just 2 blocks off North I-45 and just inside North Loop 610.
