2023 Iowa Open and Reserve

4-SS(4-round Swiss system)

ALL ENTRIES IN THE OPEN SECTION INCLUDE A FREE 1-YEAR IASCA MEMBERSHIP. Players with an active IASCA membership will have 1 year added to their current membership.

Time control: Both sections G/60;d5(each player has 60 minutes to make their moves, with a 5 second delay before their clock starts) 

Round times: Both sections: round 1- 10 AM, round 2- 12:30 PM, round 3- 3:00 PM, round 4- 5:30 PM.

Location: 325 Mormon Trek Blvd, Iowa City, IA 52246

Registration: Online at https://www.kingregistration.com before 9/23, onsite from 9:00 to 9:45 A.M.

USCF memberships required. On-Site available.

Entry Fee(EF): 

• Open: $30 before 9/16, $35 after, $45 on-site. Players rated under 1200 may play up for a $20 play-up fee. Masters play free, excluding online titles. Contact Ben Bratz(bratzchess@gmail.com) to be registered for free(include USCF ID, or FIDE if not USCF rated.)
• Reserve: $20 before 9/16, $25 after, $35 on-site.

Prizes:

• Open- 25% EF 1st, 17.5% EF 2nd, 15% EF 3rd, and 7.5% EF 1st U1800, totaling to 65% of Open entry fees as prizes.
• Reserve- 30% EF 1st, 20% 2nd, 15% 3rd, 5% 1st U1400, trophy to top U1200, totaling to 70% of Reserve entry fees as prizes.

Byes: One half-point bye per player. Last-round byes must be requested prior to the start of the 1st round to get a half-point. Byes for all other rounds must be requested 15 minutes prior to the start of the round.

Additional information: USCF ratings used for pairings and for prizes. Higher of regular or quick ratings used for pairings. USCF Swiss pairing rules and floor decisions. NO ELECTRONIC SCORESHEETS! Spectators are allowed, but may not interfere with games and must be quiet. Players may spectate after their game is over.
