Join us for a tournament suitable for all ages and abilities in Virginia Beach! US Chess membership is required for Open and U1000. These sections are open to all ages. The Rookie section is Scholastic (PK-12) only -- no US Chess membership required.

Format: Individual-Team Swiss tournament with Open, U1000, and Rookie sections. 4 or 5 rounds based on entries.
Time control: G/40; d5
Rating System: Regular OTB rating December supplement used for section eligibility and prizes.
Round start times and byes: The first round will start at 10 AM. If you register and pay in advance, you will be paired for round 1 (no shows will be forfeited). On site entries must be registered no later than 9:45 AM to be paired for round 1 -- please arrive early if registering on site. Registration opens at 8 AM. We will use "ASAP" pairings for every section, meaning subsequent rounds will start as soon as the previous round is complete. One half point bye allowed if requested prior to the start of round 3.
Entry Fees and Deadline: Open $40; U1000 and Rookie $30. Early / standard entry at these rates closes at 9 PM on Wednesday, December 6th. All sections $5 more with late online registration or on site. No re/entry allowed. HRCA will retain $5 for processing fees and refund the remainder on request if withdrawing prior to the start of Round 1. No refunds after the start of Round 1.

U1000: Trophies for 1st through 5th place individuals and 1st through 3rd place school teams. Trophies for Top U700, Top U500, Top U300, and Top Unrated. Medals to all others with an even or plus score. Ribbons to all other participants.
Rookie: Trophies for 1st through 5th place individuals overall and 1st through 3rd place Junior Rookies (PK-3rd grade). Trophies for 1st through 3rd place school teams. Trophy for Top PK-1st grade player. Medals to all others with an even or plus score. Ribbons to all other participants.
