The HRCC Fall 2020 Championship begins Tuesday, October 6th and continues one round per week through Tuesday, October 27th.

Event site is Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 3229 MacDonald Road, Virginia Beach.

Rounds start promptly at 7:30 PM.

4SS G/65;d5

A single half-point bye allowed and must be reserved prior to round 3. Byes in rounds 3-4 are non-revocable. Late entries weeks 2, 3, or 4 will receive one half-point bye.  If you check more than one bye request on this form because you will miss a week, we will assign one game a half point and the other a zero point bye.

Entry fee is $21, which includes a registration fee for this system.  On site entries (if space is available at all) will pay $25, so please register in advance.

PRIZE MONEY BASED ON ENTRIES.  TROPHIES

Current HRCA membership ($10/annual) is required.  Contact cschweiss2@gmail.com if you are not sure of your membership status, and we will get you joined or renewed before the event if necessary.

Current US Chess membership is required (cost varies based on age).  Affiliates are currently unable to batch process memberships.  You must join or renew at https://new.uschess.org/become-member prior to the event.  You must have a current US Chess membership to even complete this entry form.

Walk-ups are not guaranteed if the event has hit capacity based on COVID restrictions.  You are strongly urged to register and pay in advance.

Strict COVID protocols are in effect.  See https://hrchessclub.org/the-hampton-roads-chess-club-hrcc/.  Read the protocols in their entirety and bring a signed copy of the waiver/acknowledgement on the first night (form is good for six months).  If you cannot abide by these protocols, do not register.  There is zero tolerance for violations.  You can also read the health screening questions on the website.  Do the right thing and don't come if you can answer yes to any of those questions.

A few highlights:

Advance registration is required to control numbers. You are in the right place to register here.  Walks ups are strongly discouraged. No guarantee of getting a spot. Advance registrants must show up at least 15 minutes prior to round start for screening.

US Chess memberships cannot be processed on site (that is largely due to US Chess' new website rollout issues vs COVID) -- come with a current membership or you can't play. Renew or join at uschess.org.

Masks are mandatory. Period. Amen. If you show up without one, you have to buy one from us to get into the building ($1 for a disposable / hospital style mask). Also check out the medical screening questions on the website. Take care of each other. Do not come if you answer yes to any of those questions.

Do NOT bring your own equipment. Only club equipment will be used, to ensure proper sanitary measures.

NO spectators, NO parents in the building. Children too young to be without a parent and/or too young to follow the protocols should not register. You CAN register for casual chess, but ONLY if you arrange in advance to play the same person or two (switching out equipment between) the whole night (think Larry and Bill).

NO FOOD OR DRINK. Eat before you come. Water bottles allowed, but not at the board.

YES, these events are OTB rated!!!!

NOTE:  Casual play at HRCC is allowed only if two players arrange in advance to play one another in a non-rated game(s) that night.  To register as a casual player, do NOT use this site.  Contact rrjackson6 to register directly, ONLY with BOTH players' names.

Good luck!
