Registration: $20 entry fee. Register using this link by 11:59 PM, January 23rd, 2026.

Sections:

Non-Rated: Includes all nonrated players in grades K-12. Ideal for new players

U500: Includes all players in grades K-12 with ratings below 500

U900: Includes all players in grades K-12 with ratings below 900

Championship: Includes all players in grades K-12. Most competitive section

NOTES: Organizer has a right to adjust section cutoffs based on registered participants. If this happens, you will be notified. Players with more than 10 rated games are not eligible for the non-rated sections.

Players in the rated sections must be registered with https://www.uschess.org before the tournament. January rating supplement will be used.

Unrated players may choose any appropriate section. In non-rated games, notation is not required and clocks are not used unless games approach time limit.

In rated sections, notation is required for students in the Championship section, though a player will lose the right to make claims requiring a score sheet.

Sets will be provided for all sections. Rated players should bring their own clocks if they have one. Clocks will be used in all sections with games reaching the time limit. 

 

Format: 4 Round Swiss. G30;d5 for all sections. Students play all rounds, no elimination. One half-point bye may be requested before the start of round 2. 

 

Schedule:

8:30 – 8:45: Self-check-in. No section changes after 8:45 AM

9:00 – 9:05: Announcements

9:10: Round 1

Subsequent rounds will start once everyone in the section finishes. 

 

Awards: Awards will be conducted as sections finish. Medals to the top 3 students in each section. Keychains to all participants. No team awards.

  

Concessions: No concessions will be sold. Students should pack a lunch and snacks.
