Notes:
Note 1: NOTATION: Personally, I'm a big fan of notation. However, at club, unless BOTH players agree to take notation, it's inconsiderate for one player to do so. Please be courteous in that regard.
Note 2: COMMUNICATION: Folks who do not show up for their reserved spot without communication will be asked to sit out a week, with escalating consequences for future no-shows.
Note 3: PLAY NOT A LESSON: This is not a chess lesson -- it is an opportunity for folks who already know how to play chess (to some degree) to get paired in casual games for a couple hours. If needed, the club can refer individuals to a number of excellent instructors and programs.
Note 4: ARRIVAL: Please check-in with Coach Bill upon arrival -- do not go directly to the boards.
Note 5: REMATCHES: Immediate rematches are discouraged -- we like to rotate players -- but if players draw or have a very short game with a quick mate, please check with Coach Bill.
Note 6: RESULTS: Please report your result promptly to Coach Bill in order to get paired with another player.
Note 7: FOOD: We love Golconda's food -- but there is to be NO EATING at the boards -- thanks.
Note 8: BATHROOM BREAKS: Please take bathroom breaks BEFORE or AFTER the games, please avoid interrupting the flow of a game whenever possible.
Note 9: TOURNAMENT STYLE: Unless otherwise announced, these games are not rated by US Chess -- but generally follow those rules with regard to castling, offering of draws, touch-take, keeping the board visible to the opponent, talking during play, etc. Unless players agree before the game, the touch move rule is suspended -- and players have grace if they touch a piece and wish to change their mind. Ask Coach Bill to clarify if this is confusing.
