FORMAT
4-Round Swiss (No Eliminations)
Time Control: G/30 d10
(30 minutes per player with 10-second delay)
Two sections will run simultaneously.
Swiss pairings by score using standard pairing procedures.
Players must choose their section before Round 1 and may not switch sections once the tournament begins.

• Current US Chess Federation membership required
• Kansas residents must also be current KSCA members
• All games submitted for rating
• Dual rated (Regular & Quick)
• US Chess rules apply

We cannot process USCF or KSCA memberships on-site.
Please verify membership before arrival.
All registered players must check in prior to Round 1.

SCHEDULE
9:00 AM – Doors Open / Check-in
9:20 AM – Registration Closes (No Exceptions)
Round Times:
• Round 1 – 9:30 AM
• Round 2 – 11:00 AM
• Round 3 – 1:00 PM
• Round 4 – 2:45 PM
Awards approximately 4:15 PM
Hard stop 4:30 PM (Library closes at 5:00 PM)
FORT & FRONTIER TITLES
Rated Section
1st – The First City Cup
Title of Commander of the 64
Named Defender of the City
2nd – Colonel of the Files
3rd – Captain of the Diagonals
Under 1200 – Frontier Champion
(Based on April US Chess Regular rating)
One prize per player in the Rated Section.
Players eligible for multiple prizes will receive the highest prize earned.
Non-Rated-Open Section
Explorer of the 64
(Champion of the Open Section)
Standings determined by standard tiebreak methods.
TIEBREAKS (Rated Section)
- Solkoff
- Cumulative
- Head-to-head (if applicable)
If two players remain tied for clear First Place:
A single unrated Armageddon playoff
(White 5 minutes, Black 4 minutes; Black has draw odds)
If three or more players remain tied, final standings determined by listed tiebreak order.
BYE POLICY
One half-point bye available if declared before the start of Round 2.
Forfeit time: 30 minutes after the start of each round.
Players who withdraw must notify the Tournament Director before the next round’s pairings.
EQUIPMENT
Please bring sets, boards, and clocks if you have them.
Delay-capable clocks preferred.
A limited number will be available.
ELECTRONICS POLICY
Electronic devices capable of communication or chess analysis (including mobile phones, smart watches, tablets, and similar devices) must be turned off and stored during play in the Rated Section, in accordance with US Chess rules.
If a device makes a sound or is used during a game, penalties may be applied at the discretion of the Tournament Director.
The Tournament Director may require inspection of electronic devices if a fair play concern arises.
