$2,500 Houston Chess Studio December Championship, Dec. 3 & 4  

A 2-day schedule with 2 sections.

First place prize in each section is guaranteed! $800 for Championship, $500 for Challengers.

5 rounds, G/90, +30, except it's G/60, d5 for round one! 

Round 1 at 9:30am Saturday is G/60, d5. Round 2 at 1pm Saturday, round 3 at 5:30pm.   Rounds 4 & 5 at 9:30am and 2:00pm Sunday. Rounds 2-5 at G/90, +30.

Grand Masters may enter FREE, entry fee will be deducted from any winnings.

Only one 1/2 point bye available and it must be declared before the beginning of round 2!

Early Entry Fee $99 through Nov 26th. Regular Entry $115 through Nov 30th.  Late Entry thereafter $135. Registration closes at midnight Friday the 2nd.  CLUB MEMBERS REMEMBER TO USE YOUR DISCOUNT COUPONS!

$35 additional for "playing up" one section.  Players rated for the Challengers section may play in the Championship section for an additional $35. 

Re-entry Fee is $35 to re-enter, immediately after round one on Saturday morning, and get a 1/2 point bye in round one.  

TWO SECTIONS:  

Championship Section (1600 and up) $1,550 Prize Fund - Open to players rated 1600 and up, and unrateds.  1st Place pays $800, guaranteed! 2nd pays $500, 3rd pays $250, 2nd and 3rd prizes based on 50 total paid entries in all sections combined.

Challengers Section (U1600) $950 Prize Fund - Open to players rated U1600 and unrateds. 1st Place pays $500, guaranteed! 2nd pays $300, 3rd pays $150, 2nd and 3rd prizes based on 50 total paid entries in all sections combined.

UNRATEDS MAY PLAY IN EITHER SECTION BUT MAY NOT WIN MORE THAN $200 EXCEPT IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP SECTION WHERE THEY ARE ELIGIBLE FOR ALL PRIZES.

Location: The Houston Chess Studio, 250 Patton St, Suite H, Houston TX 77009 Centrally located and easy to get to, just two blocks off I-45 and just inside N Loop 610. Always plenty of FREE parking. There are 3 cafes in the same strip center as The Houston Chess Studio: The Red Hot Noodle (Asian), Subway (sandwiches), and Patron Pizza.  Several others (TexMex, hamburgers, etc.) are within walking distance.
