Hotel is located north of the main boardwalk in a quiet residential area, with fast food options a short drive away.  Hotel restaurant serves breakfast ($15 buffet), lunch, and dinner at reasonable rates with an ocean view!  ALL rooms have mini fridge and microwave.  Hotel will provide concessions / grab-and-go line for the tournament participants, which sandwiches at $6 and drinks, chips, pretzels, etc even less!

Format: 5 Rounds, Swiss System. All games are US Chess-rated except in the Rookie section.  One half-point bye if requested prior to the start of Round 3.  Re-entry allowed after Round 1 only for Open, U1600, and U1200.  

Sections: Open, Under 1600, and U1200 in the main event.  No unrated players in the Open Section.  MINIMUM PEAK RATING of 1500 Regular OTB to play in the Open section.  One-day scholastic (PK-12th) side events U800 (Saturday) and Rookie (Sunday).

Ratings for Sectioning and Prizes: We will use the January 2024 US Chess Rating Supplement (Regular OTB).

Entry Fees: Open, U1600, and U1200:  $95 through Sat 1/20; $105 beginning Sun 1/21; $115 beginning 1/25 and onsite; Re-entry fee $30.  FIDE-Titled players free -- entry fee will be deducted from any prize money earned.  Scholastic side events:  $30 through Sat 1/20; $35 beginning Sun 1/21; $40 beginning 1/25 and onsite.  HRCA will retain $10 of main event and $5 of scholastic side event entry fees to cover processing fees for all withdrawals prior to Round 1 and refund the remainder.  No refunds after Round 1 begins.

-- Open Section (1st-4th): $800, $500, $300, $150; Top Upset Rounds 1 and 2, $25 each.  Possible U1800 prizes added based on entries. 

-- Under 1600 Section (1st-3rd): $600, $400, $250; Top Unrated $100; Top Upset Rounds 1 and 2, $25 each

-- U1200 (1st-3rd):  $300, $200, $150 

-- Scholastic U800:  Trophies to Top 5 overall finishers, Top U500, Top U300, and Top Unrated.  Medals to all other players with plus or even score.  Ribbons to the remainder.

-- Scholastic Rookie:  Trophies to Top 5 overall, Top 3 K-5, Top 2 K-3, Top K-1.  Medals to all other players with plus or even score.  Ribbons to the remainder.  

 Schedule and Time Controls:

Open, U1600, and U1200:  G/90+10 for all rounds

-- Sat Jan 27: Round 1, 2, and 3 at 10AM, 2:30PM, and 7PM.   

-- Sun Jan 28: Rounds 4 and 5 at 10AM and 2:30PM 

Scholastic U800:  G/40; d5 for all rounds

-- Sat Jan 27th ONLY.  Rounds start at 10, 12, 2, 4, and 6

Scholastic Rookie:  G/25; d3 for all rounds

-- Sun Jan 28th ONLY.  Rounds start at 10, 11:15, 12:30, 1:45, and 3:00.
