Prizes and Info

Scholastic: Trophies for the Top 3 winners of every section and for players with 3 points or more. Every player will get a gift. 

Advanced: Trophies for top 3 + prize pool from 50% of entry fee.

Top 3 Team Trophies for Scholastic teams and Top Collegiate Team(Depending on entries)

ADULTS MAY ENTER in the Advanced/Collegiate USCF section; To Register as an Adult with no Team just put Adult in the Team Field if not already in College/University(Otherwise put in College/University Name).Onsite Registration will be accepted only if spots are available. Only 158 seats available(96 in Scholastic,44 in Advanced/Collegiate),and about 18-20 in Bayou City Room. First come first served. 

  • Scholastic: 5 rounds - Swiss System, Game- 25 min; delay 5 sec
  • Advanced: 4 rounds - 40 min; d5
  • Online Registration $28 for Scholastic and $35 for Advanced until June 18th at 11:59. Late and Onsite Registration(After June 18th):$35 for Scholastic, $40 for Advanced and will only be available if there is open spots. If you are a Current UH student or just Graduated, email Chess.atuh@gmail.com for a Coupon Code. 
  • Arrive at 8:30am for announcements. First Round begins at 9am. 
  • Lunch will begin after 2 rounds (estimated to start at 12) 
  • There are plenty of dining options in the Student Center. Currently Panda Express and Student Center Market Should be Open.
  • Bring your own Chess set and Clocks. There will be limited Sets to borrow.

 

Main Seating will be in Ballroom-West and the Lounge Area nearby.  

USCF membership is required. To obtain your USCF membership for the first time or to renew it, there is a special rate available for players in grades K-12, one year for $20 at http://chess.jliptrap.us/hgroup.htm

Locations

Event will be at 4455 University Drive or "Student Center South", second floor in “Ballroom" . Skittles Room will be in Ballroom-West. Scholastic Will Be in Ballroom-East. Advanced/Collegiate Section will be in Space City Room. Bayou City Room has been reserved as an Overflow Room. Computer Room will be in the "Museum District" Room

Best parking is the 4434 University Drive Houston or "Welcome Center Garage". Access to the Visitor's Side of the Garage is Via MLK Blvd. 

Parking at the Welcome Center Garage is best, the rate will be $12 for the Whole Day. We recommend carpools.

Your car will be towed if you park on the street. 

You can also take METRO to the Student Center via Bus Route 25 and Bus Route 80 from Eastwood Transit Center.You can also get there Via MetroRail Purple Line,but add a little bit more time due to Construction.

Note:University Dr is closed after MLK Blvd to Car Access due to Construction.Sidewalks on University Dr to the Student Center are Still Open.

Volunteers will be around both buildings to direct traffic.
