Citywide Chess Tournament at St. Rita

Chess sets and clocks are provided by CCF.

Section & Format:
This is a 5-round Swiss-style tournament with multiple sections:

  • K–1, 2–3, 4–5, 6–8
  • Intermediate
  • Advanced

Time Controls:

  • Advanced: G/30 d5
  • Intermediate: G/20 d5
  • K–8 Sections: G/20 (clocks introduced if games exceed 30 minutes)

Open to all K–8 students.

Whether this is your first tournament or you’ve competed before, this event brings together students from across Chicago for a full day of chess.

Schedule:
Check-in: 8:30 AM – 9:30 AM
Round 1: 10:00 AM
Rounds 2–5: ASAP
Awards Ceremony: ~3:00 PM
Event Ends: ~4:00 PM

Prizes:

  • K–1, 2–3, 4–5, 6–8: Top 7 individuals and top 2 teams
  • Intermediate: Top 5 individuals and top team
  • Advanced: Top 3 individuals and top team

Registration:
This event is free to attend as part of CCF’s mission to remove barriers and expand access to competitive chess.

All players must be registered by Thursday April 23rd and checked in by no later than 9:45 AM day of the tournament.
Players not checked in by this time will receive a Round 1 half point bye.

If the event reaches capacity, a waitlist will be enabled.
