$3,500 Houston Chess Studio August Championship, August 5-7  

3-day and 2-day schedules available. G/90, +30, except 2-day schedule plays G/60, d5 for round one! 

$1,000 First Place Guaranteed! Remaining $2,500 in prizes based on 50 paid entries.  Grand Masters may enter FREE, entry fee will be deducted from any winnings.

A 5 round Swiss, G/90, +30, in THREE sections: 1) Championship (Open to 1810 and up. That is not a typo, the cutoff is 1810)  2) Challengers (1809-1300).  3) Moving Up (U1300).

Only one 1/2 point bye available and it must be declared before the beginning of round 2!

Early Entry Fee $115 through July 29th. Regular Entry $135 through August 2nd. Late Entry thereafter $150. Registration closes at 4pm Friday the 5th.  CLUB MEMBERS REMEMBER TO USE YOUR DISCOUNT COUPONS!

$35 additional for "playing up" one section.  Players rated for the Challengers section or the Moving Up section may play up one section for an additional $35.  

Championship Section (1810 and up) $1,750 Prize Fund - Open to players rated 1810 and up, and unrateds.  1st Place pays $1,000, guaranteed. 2nd pays $500, 3rd pays $250, 2nd and 3rd prizes based on 50 total paid entries in all sections combined.

Challengers Section (1809-1300) $1,050 Prize Fund - Open to players rated 1809-1300, and unrateds. 1st pays $600, 2nd pays $300, 3rd pays $150, all based on 50 total paid entries in all sections combined.

Moving Up Section (U1300) $700 Prize Fund - Open to players rated U1300 and unrateds.  1st pays $400, 2nd pays $200, 3rd pays $100, all based on 50 total paid entries in all sections combined.

UNRATEDS MAY PLAY IN ANY SECTION BUT MAY NOT WIN MORE THAN $200 EXCEPT IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP SECTION WHERE THEY ARE ELIGIBLE FOR ALL PRIZES.

Re-entry Fee is $35 to switch from 3-Day, immediately after round one, to 2-Day schedule and may play round 1 on Day 2, or may take a 1/2 point bye in round one. Re-entry Fee is $35 to re-enter, immediately after round one, on Saturday morning and get a 1/2 point bye in round one.

3 Day Schedule: Rounds at 6:00pm Friday; 1pm and 6pm Saturday; 9:30am and 3pm Sunday. 

2 Day Schedule: Round 1 at 9:30am Saturday at G/60, d5.  Then merges with the 3 day schedule.
