Illinois Scholastic Open

Saturday 9/3

Players may compete in the scholastic open and also in the two-day schedule of the Illinois Open on Sunday 9/4-Monday 9/5. In fact, players could elect two half-point byes in rounds 6 and 7, and play only on Sunday in the Illinois Open.

Playing Site and Room Bookings

Chicago2875 Hotel, Northbrook. Formerly Crowne Plaza Chicago-Northbrook, in process of changing to Marriott Delta. 2875 North Milwaukee Avenue, Northbrook, Illinois 60062. Newly renovated. Hotel phone for accommodation bookings  847-298-2525. Mention Labor Day CHESS. $114 single rate. Includes outdoor pool and exercise center. During the transition, this is the only way to book a room with the hotel.  They will not write down credit card numbers in advance, and so request that if you cancel, you be kind to them and your fellow chess players by calling at least 24 hours in advance and letting them know you are canceling.

Style: Swiss System

Eligibility: Grade 12 or under as of 1/1/23

Time Control: G 25;d5

Schedule: 12:00 and ASAP thereafter

 Entry Fee: $30 by 9/1 - 7:00 p.m., $50 thereafter. $20 for players below 700 to play up.

Check-in: 10:30 - 11:30. 

Late Players: Players not checked in or registered by 11:30 receive round 1 half-point bye

Bring your own chess clock.
Players who do not know how to properly set or add time to their chess clock may be subject to penalties at director's discretion.
