ELIGIBILITY The Arpad Elo Open is open to all players. All entrants must be members of the US Chess Federation. US Chess membership may be purchased at the site. Wisconsin Chess Association membership is included in the entry. Our website address is www.wischess.org.
PLAYING SITE Playing site is the Courtyard by Marriott Madison West, 2266 Deming Way, Middleton, WI 53562. Hotel rates are $99 single or $105 double. Rooms may be reserved by calling 608-203-0100 or at a link that will be added here once received. Room rate cutoff date is February 12.
REGISTRATION Players may register by mail using the form below. Online registration is available at www.kingregistration.com/event/2027Elo with online fees applied. Registration will be accepted at the site from 9:00-9:30 AM on Saturday, March 13. Please bring your chess clock. SCHEDULE The Arpad Elo Open is a five-round Swiss-System event in two sections Open and Reserve (U1800). Rounds are at 10:00 AM, 2:30 PM and 7:00 PM on Saturday. Sunday’s rounds are at 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM. The time control is Game in 90 minutes plus a 30 second increment per move. One ½-point bye is available for any round if requested in advance.
ENTRY FEES If received by March 9, the entry fee is $45 Open and $35 Reserve. All entries paid later are $5 more. If you pre-register but then cannot play, your entry will be refunded to you only if you notify the tournament director by 9:30 AM on March 13. Credit card and online registration fees incurred by the WCA will not be returned.
PRIZES The following $1200 prize fund is based on 45 players in the Open and 30 in the Reserve:

1st = $350
2nd = 200
‘A’ = 125
U1800/Unr = 100
Reserve:
1st = $125
2nd = 90
'C’ = 80
‘D’ = 70
U1200/Unr = 60
The Open winner also receives the Arpad Elo Open travelling trophy.
