This is your official invitation to the 2026 Super State School Team Chess Tournament!

February 5th(HS only) - 6th(all schools)

Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Albuquerque Midtown

2020 Menaul Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87107

There will be five categories of competition:

• High School 9th to 12th grade (1A-3A, 5 kids per team)
• High School 9th to 12th grade (4A-5A, 6 kids per team)
• Middle School 6th to 8th grade (5 kids per team)
• Elementary School K to 5th grade (5 kids per team)
• State Team Challenge for non NMAA teams and B-teams (Home school and
  your extra teams can play, must be teams of 5 players. Only two teams from each school are allowed. Contact me for more information and forms needed)

 

Schedule:

• High School (1A-3A & 4A-5A) (Time Control : G/55 Delay 5 seconds)
  • Round 1: Thursday evening 2/5 @ 6:30 pm
  • Round 2: Friday Morning 2/6 @ 9 am
  • Round 3: Friday Midday 2/6 @ 11:15am
  • Round 4: (if necessary, played if there is a no clear winner by the previous round) Friday Afternoon 2/6 @ 2:30pm
  • Awards Ceremony at conclusion of final round

 

• Middle School and Elementary School (Time Control : G/55 Delay 5 seconds)
  • Round 1: Friday Morning 2/6 @ 9 am
  • Round 2: Friday Midday 2/6 @ 11:15am
  • Round 3: Friday Afternoon 2/6 @ 2:30pm
  • Round 4: (if necessary, played if there is a no clear winner by the previous round) Friday Evening 2/6 @ 4:30pm
  • Awards Ceremony at conclusion of final round

 

• State Team Challenge (Time control is G/30 delay 0 seconds)
  • Round 1: Friday Morning 2/6 @ 9:30 am
  • Round 2: Friday Midday 2/6 @ 10:45 am
  • Round 3: Friday Afternoon 2/6 @ 12 pm
  • Round 4: Friday Afternoon 2/6 @ 2:45 pm

 

Playing Up:

• Elementary students
  • can only play up if their Elementary school is part of the Middle School (K-8).
• Middle School students
  • Only 8th graders can play in the High School sections, provided all paperwork required by the NMAA is filled out
    by Feb 5th.

Registration:

• All Schools need to registered by 8 PM on Wednesday, Feb 4th Wed, There will be NO ON-SITE REGISTRATION

 

 

Bring your pens, pencils, sets and clocks!

Important Notes:

• Parents are not allowed in the tournament playing area once clocks start! Onlycoaches and site TD’s will be permitted in tournament area once games start. Coach must have a email send from the school to me stating they are representing the school as the coach in order to be allowed in the playing area.
• There will also be an individual side tournament, $5 per student.
  • Registration will be on site @ 8 am.
  • Registration will close at 9:30 and starts at 9:45 Friday morning. 

 

• There will be a $50 dollar entry fee for the tournament per team.
• Be sure to bring the NMAA eligibility form for your High School players! Bring the form on-site to day of tournament.
