The Louisiana Chess Association invites you to the 2026 Louisiana State Championship!

This year's tournament will be hosted at The Henning Cultural Center in Sulphur, LA and will offer 7 rounds of classical chess over three or four days. USCF and LCA membership required (for LA players), all ages are welcome! The highest placing winner from Louisiana will be crowned the 2026 Louisiana State Champion.

Tournament details: Seven rounds, Swiss system, G/90;+30, USCF classical-rated tournament with 3- or 4-day schedule options.

Prize fund: $3000 prize fund b/50 with 50% guaranteed.

Open Section:

1st Place - $900.00
2nd Place - $500.00
3rd Place - $300.00

Class Prizes:

U2000 - 1st = $500.00, 2nd = $250.00
U1500 - 1st = $250.00, 2nd = $150.00
U1200 - 1st = $150.00

Date: September 4th-7th, 2026.

4-Day Extended Schedule:

Friday at 6:30pm
Saturday at 2:30pm and 7:30pm
Sunday at 12:00pm and 6:00pm
Monday 9:30am and 2:30pm.

3-Day Traditional Schedule: Saturday at 9:30am, merge for Round 2 at 2:30pm, see remaining schedule above.

LCA Business Meeting: Sunday, Sept 6th, 2026 at 4:30 pm.

Note: If playing the 3-Day option and you don't wish to stay the Friday night before, please be sure to adjust your check-in date as the link defaults to the 4-Day hotel booking.

Entry fee: $115 entry fee if purchased by 8/15/2026. $120 if purchased after 8/15/2026. $125 on site. On-site registration will end 30 minutes before the first round.

Refunds: Players who withdraw 30 minutes before round one are eligible for a refund of their entry fee, minus King and Stripe Fees.

Eligibility: Current USCF membership required, please join/renew here prior to the event Join US Chess. LCA membership required for Louisiana players and can be purchased at LCA Membership Management. LCA membership is not required for out of state players.

Byes: Three half-point byes available upon request. No requests may be made after the start of round three, other than for emergency situations.

Late players: Any player arriving at the chessboard more than 30 minutes late from the actual starting time of the round will lose their game (xref USCF 13D). If both players arrive late elapsed time will be split between the players (xref USCF 16K).
