- Date: Saturday, April 20th.
- Time: 8:30am to 6:30pm.
- Place: Washington Middle School cafeteria, 1633 S. King St.
- Participants: Hawaii K-12 chess players
- Supervision: On-site supervision by a coach, parent or designated guardian is required for all players under age 16.
- Sections: Grade level sections K-2, K-5, 6-8, and 9-12
- Swiss Pairing System: 5-rounds, Swiss pairing system, non-elimination, rated by the US Chess Federation.
- Time Control: Game in 40 minutes with a 5-second delay. (Clocks and chess sets provided at the event.)
- Writing moves: US Chess Federation required players write all moves, except in the K-2 Section.
- Individual Prizes: Trophies for top 3 individuals in each section and grade-level champions.
- Team Awards: Based on top 4 scores from the same school (teams may be any size).
- Tie Breaks: For players with the same score, USCF standard tiebreaks will determine trophy and medal distribution. If there is a tie for first place, individuals and teams will be declared co-champions.
- Family Pairings: Family and team members will not be paired before the final round and then only if necessary.
- Byes: Any player may have up to two, ½-point byes, if requested before 8:30am
- Extra games: Players who finish early, parents and coaches may play rated 10/5 games if they wish (see TD).

- 10:45am Round 2

- 12:30pm Round 3
- 2:15pm Round 4
- 4:00pm Round 5
- 5:45pm Awards Ceremony
Entry Fees :
- $20 early entry fee per player, if received by 4/13 midnight.
- $10 entry fee discount for each additional family member (use code OHANA)
- $25 entry fee per player, if received by 4/17 midnight
- $30 late entry fee per player, if registration received by 4/19 midnight
- $40 on-site registration from 7:00am to 8:00am (no discounts)
- Financial aid is available if needed. Please request in advance.
US Chess Federation Membership (required):

- Any player who is not a current USCF member will automatically receive a 1/2-point bye in the first round while their membership is being processed.
