Swiss 4|60: Columbus Plus-Score

The Chess Enterprise presents, The Swiss 4|60: Columbus Plus-Score, a one day OTB chess tournament.  You play 4 games, Game in 60, players are divided into 2 sections.  Prizes are based on your final score.  See below for the advantages over place-based scoring.  The playing site, located in Gahanna OH, is conveniently located just east of Columbus, five minutes from Columbus International Airport and close to many restaurants.  Boards and sets provided, please bring clocks.  Open to all players.  Limit 50 players total, all sections.

Playing Site: Shepherd Church of the Nazarene, 425 S Hamilton Rd, Gahanna, OH 43230.  Shepherd Church parking lot is located off Morrison Rd/Rocky Fork Dr. S.  Turn left onto April Lane.

 

Format: 4 round Swiss.  Game/60 with 5 second delay.  2 Sections.  US Chess rated event.


Rounds: 10 am *Lunch break*, 1 pm, 3:30 pm, 6 pm

 

Prizes:     Open Section: Each player with

          4 points wins $200, points $100, 3 points $50, points $25

    Reserve Under 1600: Each player with

          4 points wins $160, points $80, 3 points $40, points $20

Entry:

  • $40 online by June 1. Enter at https://TheChessEnterprise.com
  • $45 online after or on-site. No Checks.  No phone entries.
  • $15 play up fee for players rated under 1500 in the Open section.

 

Registration:

  • Onsite: Saturday, 8:30 am to 9:30 am.
  • Online: Online registration system will close Friday, June 3, 11:00 pm EST, or when the 50 player limit is reached.
  • Bye: One ½-point bye OK for any round, must be requested before the start of round 2.
  • Rating: Dual Rated, based on June 2022 Rating Supplement.
  • TD reserves the right to use accelerated Swiss pairings.
  • Refund minus a $3 admin fee until the end of registration.
  • US Chess rated event. US Chess membership required.

Tournament Advantages over place-based scoring.

  • Less Waiting: Your score determines your prize. Once you finish your last game, you can receive your prize.
  • Less Uncertainty: Your prize does not get lowered if others tie with you. For example, if there are two 4-0 players, both receive the full amount for 4-0.
